The dreamy, dancey, Rising bedroom-pop duo Teengirl Fantasy have been something of a blog phenomenon for the better part of a year, and now they're getting ready to give the world 7 AM,
their first full-length. Talking to Pitchfork about the album, Nick
Weiss, one half of the group, says, "It sounds a lot fuller than our
earlier stuff. I think there's even more variety." In North America, True Panther will release the LP on September 14, and Merok will release it in Europe. That's the cover art above. We've got all the info below.
Light Asylum singer/!!! collaborator Shannon Funchess guests on "Dancing in Slow Motion", a song Teengirl Fantasy member Logan Takahashi describes as "a straight-up produced pop track." Weiss says that another track is "almost Ghostface-style-- it takes a full a cappella from another song and completely repositions it."
Most of the album is instrumental, but Weiss says that "there are
some songs that have ephemeral vocals. Logan is singing on some tracks,
but you might not notice."
Above, you can download "Cheaters", a soul-sampling disco odyssey
that lasts six-and-a-half minutes. Also, the duo will hit venues all
over the world this month, and we've got their tour dates below.
